The full cast has been announced for the first UK non-replica production of Disney’s High School Musical, opening at Lowry in Salford before transferring to London’s Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre.

The production will run at Lowry from 22 August to 19 September 2026, before opening in London from 12 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, with a press night set for 20 October.

Jason Donovan will star as Coach Bolton in Salford, with Harry Judd taking over the role for the London run.

Appearing in both venues are Disney favourite KayCee Stroh as Ms Darbus, alongside Tobias Turley as Troy Bolton, Leonor Correia as Gabriella Montez, Caitlin Tipping as Sharpay Evans, and Luke Bayer as Ryan Evans.

The supporting cast includes Char Burnett, Jordan Benjamin, Simeon Beckett, Olivia O’Connor, Yna Tresvalles, and Curtis Patrick.

They are joined by a wider ensemble featuring Alexander Black, Eleanor Bye, Harriet Caplan-Dean, Alison Driver, Conor Luke Drury, Mary Francis, Sonia Gil-Lubeiro, Tamsin January, Joseph Lennox, Lucas Morlotti, Katie Mulligan, André Phipps, Meg Silsby, Kade Stenson, Ethan Vijn, and Eddie Zickerman.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original Disney Channel film, High School Musical features a book by David Simpatico with music adapted, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle.

The show is co-directed by Joseph Houston and William Whelton, with choreography by Aaron Renfree and design by a creative team including Andrew Exeter, Rory Beaton, and Sophia Pardon.

Featuring songs including Breaking Free, We’re All In This Together, Get’cha Head in the Game, and Stick to the Status Quo, the musical follows the story of Troy and Gabriella as they challenge the status quo at East High.

Originally premiering in 2006, High School Musical has gone on to become a global phenomenon, with productions staged worldwide and a London premiere at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2008.
