A host of new names has been added to the celebratory 15th anniversary West End production of White Rabbit Red Rabbit, currently playing weekly at the Duchess Theatre until 2 November 2026.
Mel Giedroyc, Christopher Eccleston, Munya Chawawa, Steve Pemberton, Nish Kumar, Adam Buxton, John Bradley and Ginger Johnson are the latest performers confirmed, joining a previously announced line-up including David Harewood, Asim Chaudhry, Jodie Whittaker, Riz Ahmed, Luke Thompson and Archie Madekwe.
The internationally acclaimed play by Nassim Soleimanpour is presented by new theatre company There & Then in association with Nica Burns, marking the company’s inaugural production.
White Rabbit Red Rabbit is a unique theatrical experiment in which a different performer takes to the stage each Monday, presented with a sealed envelope containing a script they have never seen before. With no rehearsal and no director, each performance becomes a one-off event shaped by the performer’s spontaneous response.
Recent performers have included Lucian Msamati, David Tennant and Jo Joyner, with upcoming appearances scheduled weekly throughout the summer and autumn. Highlights include Jodie Whittaker on 13 July, Munya Chawawa on 3 August, Mel Giedroyc on 24 August, Christopher Eccleston on 28 September and Nish Kumar on 19 October.
First performed in 2011 while Soleimanpour was unable to leave Iran, the play explores themes of obedience, choice and freedom of expression. It has since been translated into more than 25 languages and performed over 4,000 times worldwide.
The production also signals the launch of There & Then, a new company founded by Soleimanpour and director Omar Elerian, building on their decade-long creative collaboration.
Nassim Soleimanpour said: “We are all made of the stories we dare to tell, and the silences we finally give a voice. What began as a leap into the unknown with White Rabbit Red Rabbit has, through years of collaboration with Omar Elerian, become a shared theatrical language and the foundation of this new company, and we’re excited that our first production will be in association with Nica Burns and Nimax as we share this next chapter with audiences.”
Omar Elerian added: “I am extremely excited to embark on this new creative chapter in collaboration with my partner-in-crime, Nassim Soleimanpour. Together, we look forward to introducing something fresh and unconventional to the West End, confident that London audiences will embrace the exhilarating high-wire nature of our work—anchored in presence, immediacy, and a spirit of the unknown. In these fragile and uncertain times, we hope to reaffirm that risk, imagination, and the enduring power of storytelling remain among our most vital and transformative forces.”
