Matthew James Morrison, best known for his role as Felix Baker and alter ego “Tara Misu” in EastEnders, joins Wendi Peters in the 20th anniversary UK tour of the critically acclaimed West End comedy Glorious!.
Written by Olivier-nominated playwright Peter Quilter, Glorious! tells the true story of American socialite Florence Foster Jenkins, dubbed “the worst singer in the world.” Despite her off-key performances and flamboyant costumes, Jenkins became a cult figure in New York during the 1920s to 1940s.
The comedy follows Florence’s journey to her biggest ever sold-out recital at Carnegie Hall, and her unlikely friendship with accompanist Cosme McMoon, played by Morrison.
Wendi Peters, who stars as Florence, is best known for her long-running role as Cilla Battersby in Coronation Street, and more recently as Nina Bulsara in Doctors. Her stage credits include Sister Act, BIG The Musical, White Christmas, and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Joining the cast are Caroline Gruber as Maria and Mrs Verrinder-Gedge, and Sioned Jones as Dorothy. Jones also covers the role of Florence, reprising her involvement from the original West End production alongside Dame Maureen Lipman.
Ella-Maria Danson and Ryan Hall complete the cast as ASMs and covers for multiple roles.
Directed by Kirk Jameson (Song From Far Away, Madagascar the Musical), the production premiered at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre and will tour the UK from February to June 2026.
The show originally premiered in the West End in 2005 and was later adapted into a film starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant. It has since been translated into 25 languages and performed in 36 countries.
