Glynis Barber and Bob Barrett are set to join Mark Hadfield in the UK & Ireland tour of Death on the Nile, adapted by Ken Ludwig from Agatha Christie’s iconic mystery.
Presented by Fiery Angel, the production follows the success of And Then There Were None and Murder on the Orient Express, and reunites Ludwig with director Lucy Bailey for the European premiere of this new stage adaptation.
Barber will play Salome Otterbourne, while Barrett takes on the role of Colonel Race, Poirot’s trusted friend. Hadfield was previously announced as Hercule Poirot.
Barber is best known for her role in Dempsey and Makepeace, with recent TV credits including Hollyoaks, The Outpost, EastEnders, Emmerdale, and Blake’s 7. She has previously appeared in Agatha Christie’s Marple: Endless Night and Miss Marple: The Mirror Crack’d from Side to Side.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be returning to the stage and working with the brilliant team at Fiery Angel and director Lucy Bailey,” said Barber. “This iconic play from Agatha Christie’s phenomenal body of work keeps audiences on the edge of their seat and I can’t wait to be part of a cast that will bring this gripping drama to theatres all over the UK and Ireland.”
Barrett is widely recognised for his long-running role as Sacha Levy in Holby City, and has appeared in Shakespeare in Love and recent Agatha Christie tours.
“To have the chance of being in one Agatha Christie tour, getting to work with the incomparable team of Lucy Bailey and Fiery Angel, was special,” said Barrett. “To get to be in three is a great privilege I shall never forget.”
Set aboard a luxurious cruise on the Nile, the story follows a honeymoon turned deadly, as Poirot must unravel a web of secrets and lies under the Egyptian sun.
Further casting is to be announced.
The production will be directed by Lucy Bailey, with design by Mike Britton, lighting by Oliver Fenwick, sound by Mic Pool, and movement direction by Liam Steele. Lucy Waterhouse joins as associate director, with Helena Palmer as casting director.
The tour opens on 26 September 2025 at The Lowry in Salford, with a national press night on 9 October at Richmond Theatre, and concludes on 23 May 2026 at Plymouth Theatre Royal.
