Debbie McGee has been announced as Miss Lynch in the new UK and Ireland tour of Grease The Musical, which opens at Theatre Royal Plymouth on 23 April 2027 before embarking on a major tour across the UK and Ireland.
Producer Colin Ingram revealed that McGee will join the cast of the much-loved musical, with further casting still to be announced.
The production will visit Cardiff, Newcastle, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Leeds, Belfast, Dublin, Swansea, Southampton, Oxford, Liverpool, Bristol, Blackpool, Darlington, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Sunderland, Nottingham, Birmingham, Norwich and Hull, with additional venues expected to be announced.
McGee is one of Britain’s best-known television and radio personalities. Having trained at the Royal Ballet School, she began her career as a dancer before becoming Paul’s Daniels’ assistant and co-star on The Paul Daniels Magic Show, one of the longest-running television magic programmes in the world.
Her career has spanned television, stage, radio and live entertainment, including a memorable run on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, where she became the oldest celebrity contestant to reach the final. In 2026, she also celebrates 50 years in showbusiness with the publication of her autobiography, A Magical Life.
Directed by Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, Grease The Musical features choreography by Arlene Phillips and a book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
The creative team also includes designer Colin Richmond, orchestrator and musical supervisor Sarah Travis, lighting designer Ben Cracknell, sound designers Tom Marshall and Richard Brooker, and casting director David Grindrod CDG.
Set at Rydell High, the musical follows the romance between Danny and Sandy as they navigate teenage life after an unforgettable summer together. The score includes iconic songs such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’, Hopelessly Devoted to You and You’re the One That I Want.
Produced by Colin Ingram for InTheatre Productions and Curve, the new tour promises a fresh young cast and a new staging of one of the world’s most enduring musical theatre favourites.
