With Hercules currently playing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Disney has released Great Bolts of Thunder as a standalone single remixed by electronic music duo Basement Jaxx.

The pair, known for global hits including Red Alert and Where’s Your Head At, have reimagined the track with a fresh sound while keeping the power of the vocal at its core.

The remix will be available on all streaming platforms from 13 February.

The release follows last year’s launch of the Hercules Original London Cast Recording on vinyl, CD and digitally. The album includes classic songs from the 1997 animated feature alongside new numbers written for the stage musical by Alan Menken and David Zippel.

Alan said: “We were so happy to hear that DJ royalty Basement Jaxx were on board to remix ‘Great Bolts of Thunder’. The song has been a favorite in our new musical, Hercules, and it is great to see it take on a new life with this remix.”

David said: “We loved writing the new songs for the musical, and this remix brings a whole new energy to ‘Great Bolts of Thunder’. We are excited for the song to have a new life on the dance floor!”

Basement Jaxx, one of the UK’s most influential electronic acts, rose out of the 1990s underground dance scene and went on to achieve worldwide success. Their signature hits have become staples of electronic music history, and they continue to tour internationally, including a sold-out Royal Albert Hall date this March.

Hercules continues its run at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The music is available to stream and download now, with CD and vinyl editions purchasable at the Disney Music Emporium UK store and at the theatre’s merchandise shop.
