Imogen Stubbs will lead the cast of A Thing of Beauty, a new fictional play by Wendy Oberman and Jonathan Lewis, which will premiere at the Tabard Theatre from 25 February to 1 March 2026.
The play centres on filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, whose pioneering cinematic techniques influenced directors such as George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, yet whose reputation was permanently overshadowed by her association with the Nazi regime.
Set in October 1972, the story follows an imagined in depth interview between Riefenstahl and Harry Adams, a BBC documentary figure battling his own inner turmoil. As their conversation unfolds, ambition, fear, lies and desire collide, raising difficult questions about whether art can ever be separated from the artist.
The cast includes Tony Bell, Tony Boncza, Harry Bradley, Thomas Craig, Sophie McMahon, Harry Rundle and Imogen Stubbs. Jonathan Lewis directs, with design by Juliette Demoulin, lighting by Mark Dymock and sound design by Simon Slater. The production is produced by Denise Silvey for Cahoots Theatre Company.
