Bridgette Amofah stars in LOVESTUCK, a bold new British musical at Stratford East that dives headfirst into the chaos of modern romance. With a pop-fuelled score and a sharp comedic edge, the show explores the highs and lows of online dating and the curated world of social media.

Amofah plays Cassandra/Miseraie, the social media alter ego of protagonist Lucy, in a role that blends humour, heart, and a touch of digital drama. With direction from Jamie Morton and music by Bryn Christopher, LOVESTUCK promises a riotous and relatable night at the theatre.

LOVESTUCK runs at Stratford East from 6th June to 12th July 2025 – don’t miss your chance to see this hilarious new musical. Book tickets here

You’re starring in Lovestuck: A New Comedy Musical at Stratford East – what can you tell us about the show?

Lovestuck is an original rom-com musical, featuring a viral story about faeces. It’s about finding love – not just romantic love, but also friendship, self-love and self-acceptance.

You play Cassandra/Miseraie, the alter ego of protagonist Lucy – how did you approach bringing both sides of this character to life?

Cassandra is outwardly ‘perfect’ in terms of having her ‘ish’ together. A husband, 3 kids and a ‘cool’ job. But ultimately, this is just Lucy’s perception that she’s projected onto Cassandra and actually, Cassandra is vulnerable and has as many insecurities as the next person. Miseraie on the other hand is the personification of all the ugly things we say about ourselves, so she’s much more heightened and ridiculous in what she says and how she moves. I’ve just started to explore how I can make them different physically. Cassandra is always in a hurry, and has a pace on, whilst Miseraie is more cat like – on the prowl to find the chinks in your armour.

The show explores themes like online dating, toxic social media, and self-acceptance – which of these resonated most with you personally?

I think the idea that self-acceptance is more important than finding romantic love is something that resonated. I’ve been fairly lucky with not falling prey to the toxicity of social media.

Lovestuck: A New Comedy Musical features a pop score by Bryn Christopher and Martin Batchelar – what’s it been like performing this music live?

Well funnily enough, I know Bryn from when I used to work in the music industry, so for us it feels like a full circle moment! I think Bryn and Martin have written the most incredible songs! They are really catchy but also really clever. There is a song called ‘cat lady’ which is one of the hardest songs to sing and you have to remember several breeds of cats, but it is GENIUS!

You’ve worked across theatre, film, and TV – how does this production compare to your past roles?

I have mainly played quite ‘serious’ roles and have always wanted to do more comedy, so this is perfect for me! I would say doing musical theatre is NOT for the faint of heart, and I have major respect for people that do it all the time! I’m learning so much and I think musical theatre in the UK should be as respected as it is in the US.

What would you say to anyone thinking of booking to see Lovestuck: A New Comedy Musical?

I mean, if you have taste you will book a ticket! It’s hilarious but also has a lot of heart and a banging soundtrack. Plus a song about cats. As a dog person, I can verify that you should still come.
