Jermyn Street Theatre has revealed the first two productions in its 2026 season, spotlighting a revival of Orphans and the London premiere of Aether.

With rehearsals underway for Katherine Moar’s Ragdoll, the theatre begins the new year with Orphans, Lyle Kessler’s Tony Award-nominated modern classic. Directed by Al Miller, the production stars Forbes Masson as Harold and runs from 5 to 24 January 2026.

Orphans tells the story of two brothers surviving in North Philadelphia whose lives are upended by the arrival of a mysterious stranger. The production promises a darkly comic and moving experience, with design by Sarah Beaton, lighting by Simeon Miller, and sound by Donato Wharton.

Following this, Aether makes its London debut from 16 to 21 March 2026. Written and directed by Emma Howlett, the production transfers from a sold-out run at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Aether explores physics, faith, and magic through a rich theatrical spectacle. The cast includes Gemma Barnett, Sophie Kean, Anna Marks Pryce, and Abby McCann, with design by Ellie Wintour, lighting by Ed Saunders, and sound by Sarah Spencer.

Artistic Director Stella Powell-Jones and Co-Artistic Director David Doyle said:
“We’re spotlighting two exciting productions ahead of our Spring season announcement: Al Miller’s revival of Lyle Kessler’s Orphans and Emma Howlett’s Aether. Al has left a lasting mark on our theatre during his time as Carne Deputy Director, and it’s a joy to welcome him back as a director in his own right with Orphans. Emma’s Aether captivated Edinburgh audiences, and we’re delighted to share it with London audiences. Both Al and Emma are directors on remarkable journeys, and it’s a privilege to be part of their story.”
