There & Then has announced further casting and an extension for the West End run of White Rabbit Red Rabbit, the internationally celebrated play by Iranian-German playwright Nassim Soleimanpour.
Following strong audience demand, the production’s 15th anniversary season at the Duchess Theatre will now continue its weekly Monday performances through to 14 December.
Newly announced performers include comedian and presenter Joe Lycett, who will take to the stage on 2 November, and House of the Dragon and Slow Horses star Olivia Cooke, who will appear on 23 November.
The extended run also features previously announced performances from Riz Ahmed on 12 October, Nish Kumar on 19 October and John Bradley on 26 October, with further guest performers still to be revealed.
One of modern theatreâs most distinctive theatrical experiences, White Rabbit Red Rabbit places a different performer on stage for every performance. Each actor is handed a sealed envelope containing a script they have never seen before and must perform it without rehearsal, direction or prior preparation.
Written in 2011 while Soleimanpour was unable to leave Iran, the play explores themes of obedience, choice and freedom of expression. Over the past fifteen years, it has been performed more than 4,000 times worldwide and translated into more than 25 languages.
Previous performers have included Whoopi Goldberg, Cynthia Nixon, Michael Sheen, Lenny Henry, Daisy Edgar-Jones, David Harewood and Ken Loach, helping establish the work as one of the most recognisable and influential plays of the 21st century.
The production also marks the inaugural project from There & Then, the new theatre company founded by Soleimanpour and award-winning director Omar Elerian. Building on a decade-long creative partnership, the company aims to create bold, immediate and unpredictable theatrical experiences while supporting artists who want to challenge conventional approaches to theatre-making.
White Rabbit Red Rabbit is presented by There & Then in association with Nica Burns and continues at the Duchess Theatre until 14 December.
