Lauren Clancy Appointed Executive Director of Bush Theatre

The Bush Theatre has announced the appointment of Lauren Clancy as Executive Director with immediate effect.  Clancy replaces Jon Gilchrist who has held the position since 2014.

Lauren will work alongside the Bush Theatre’s Artistic Director Madani Younis.  She was previously Head of Marketing at the theatre, during which time the company completed the largest capital project in the organisation’s history and reopened their refurbished Shepherd’s Bush home earlier this year.

On her appointment, Lauren Clancy said ‘I have loved the four years I’ve spent at the Bush so far, working alongside Madani and the team to articulate a bold, contemporary, innovative Bush Theatre that speaks up for its community. Now we have a beautifully refurbished home to match our vision, the potential is huge and I’m looking forward to pouring my energy into realising the next lease of the Bush’s life.’

Chair of the Bush Theatre Board of Directors Simon Johnson said, ‘I am absolutely delighted and immeasurably proud to see Lauren step up to the Executive Director role. The Bush Theatre has a well-earned reputation for nurturing and developing new artists and their work and providing a platform to build their careers.  It is wonderful to see us apply those principles to the team at the top of the organisation by recognising Lauren’s contribution over the last 4 years and her potential to step into this role at this exciting and pivotal point in our history’.

Madani Younis, Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre said today ‘It is a great pleasure to begin a new chapter with Lauren as our new Executive Director. As Head of Marketing Lauren had huge influence during an important time of growth for the Bush Theatre. I look forward to working with her to further cement the theatre’s place in its new home in Shepherd’s Bush and together shape the future growth of the organisation.’
