The National Youth Theatre has announced that Let the Right One In will feature in its 2026 REP season at Underbelly Boulevard Soho.

The stage adaptation by NYT alum Jack Thorne, based on John Ajvide Lindqvist’s bestselling novel and film, will run from 5 to 23 May 2026.

Directed by Olivier Award winner James Dacre, the production will showcase Britain’s best young performing talent from the NYT, with tickets now on sale.

A dark coming-of-age vampire thriller, Let the Right One In forms part of NYT’s ‘Love Bites’ season celebrating the organisation’s 70th anniversary. The programme also includes a world premiere production of Dracula by Tatty Hennessy, directed by Atri Banerjee, running earlier in the year at the NYT Workshop Theatre.

National Youth Theatre CEO and Artistic Director Paul Roseby OBE said: ‘For the second instalment of our bloodthirsty Love Bites REP season it’s very special to be reuniting with NYT alum Jack Thorne, 22 years after we staged his early work. In our 70th year we’re exploring the idea of living forever, and Jack certainly has forever talent as evident in the chilling play Let the Right One In. With Handel & Hendrix opening tonight and My Brother’s a Genius currently playing at Sheffield Theatres we’ve started with urgency, reflecting the need of young people wanting to be seen and heard. Thank you to Underbelly Boulevard Soho and award winning director James Dacre for continuing to champion our bright young talent. Securing a platform in the West End with accessible facilities has proved more challenging than ever, but we’re determined to make space for the next generation to shine on Britain’s leading stages.’

The REP season will launch with an anti-Valentine’s Day screening at ODEON Luxe Holloway, supported by Hammer Films. NYT REP alumni include Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Lauren Lyle and Francesca Amewudah Rivers.

Jack Thorne’s work spans television, film and theatre, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, His Dark Materials and This is England. His professional debut was staged with the NYT in 2004.

James Dacre recently founded Living Productions and previously served as Artistic Director of Royal and Derngate Theatres for a decade. His extensive directing career includes work across major UK venues and international stages.

Let the Right One In was originally commissioned by National Theatre of Scotland and Marla Rubin Productions Ltd. It premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2013 before transferring to the West End and later making its New York debut.
