BAFTA-nominated actor and comedian Lolly Adefope will make her West End debut as Mary Todd Lincoln in the Olivier Award-winning comedy OH, MARY! at London’s Trafalgar Theatre.
Adefope will take over the role for a 10-week season from 28 September to 5 December 2026, with the hit production now booking through to 2 January 2027.
Best known for her role in the acclaimed BBC sitcom Ghosts, Adefope has also appeared in The Franchise, Shrill, Black Mirror, Motherland, Stath Lets Flats and films including Saltburn and Wicked Little Letters.
Her casting marks the latest high-profile chapter for Cole Escola’s critically acclaimed comedy, which has enjoyed success on both Broadway and the West End.
The production currently stars Cole Escola as Mary Todd Lincoln alongside Giles Terera, Dino Fetscher, Kate O’Donnell and Oliver Stockley. From 17 August to 26 September, the role of Mary will be played by Jinkx Monsoon, with full casting for Adefope’s run to be announced.
Written by Tony Award winner Cole Escola and directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, OH, MARY! is a dark comedy that reimagines the life of Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
The 80-minute play premiered Off-Broadway in January 2024 before transferring to Broadway later that year, where it broke box office records at the Lyceum Theatre. Since opening in the West End at the Trafalgar Theatre in December 2025, the production has also broken box office records and won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play.
The production recently won Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play for Cole Escola and Best Direction of a Play for Sam Pinkleton, and was also named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
