Two-time Emmy-nominated comedian and winner of The Savanna CCA Comic of the Year Award, Loyiso Gola (as seen on BBC Two’s Mock the Week) is one of South Africa’s most-loved comedians for a reason. He returns to Soho Theatre with his critically acclaimed stand-up show Unlearning. Bringing together sharp observations, satirical wit and philosophical contemplations, Loyiso challenges societal norms, making you question everything you thought you knew about politics, race, history and more.

Following the huge success of his 2016 fringe show, Dude, Where’s My Lion?, Loyiso recorded his first U.S. comedy special Loyiso Gola: Live in New York (released exclusively by Vimeo). Last year he made his Melbourne International Comedy Festival debut to rapturous critical acclaim, performed in South African Comedy All Stars at the Perth Comedy Festival and hosted the 2017 Africa Now concert at NYC’s Apollo Theater.

Loyiso Gola was the popular writer, host and executive producer of the political satire show, Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola (eNCA) which was nominated for Best Comedy Series at the International Emmy Awards in 2013 and 2014. He regularly appears on Australian television, as the African correspondent, on The Weekly with Charlie Pickering.

Loyiso Gola Unlearning is at The Soho Theatre 24th – 26th May 2018.
