Mark Goldthorp will take over the role of Bill in Mamma Mia! at London’s Novello Theatre from Monday 24 August 2026.

He replaces Tamlyn Henderson, who departs the production to appear in Thelma & Louise at the Young Vic.

Goldthorp currently plays Bill in the UK and International Tour of Mamma Mia!, bringing extensive experience with the show to the West End company.

His previous theatre credits include A Christmas Carol at the Old Vic, Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre, Sunset Boulevard at the London Coliseum, Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre, and Into the Woods at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Mamma Mia! recently celebrated its 27th anniversary in the West End, where it continues to be one of the longest-running musicals of all time.

MAMMA MIA! extends West End booking period to March 2027

Since its London premiere in 1999, the ABBA-inspired musical has been seen by over 70 million people worldwide and has expanded into more than 50 productions across 16 languages.

The show’s current West End cast includes Sara Poyzer, Kate Graham, Nicky Swift, Richard Standing, Daniel Crowder and Ellie Kingdon, alongside a large ensemble.

Set on a Greek island, Mamma Mia! tells the story of a mother, a daughter and three possible fathers, brought to life through ABBA’s iconic songs.

The production features music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with a book by Catherine Johnson and direction by Phyllida Lloyd.
