The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced casting for the upcoming UK and Ireland tour of Matilda The Musical, which celebrates 15 years on stage this year.
The multi-award-winning production, based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book, will begin performances at Curve Leicester on 6 October 2025.
Madison Davis, Mollie Hutton, Olivia Ironmonger and Sanna Kurihara will share the title role of Matilda.
Joining them are Richard Hurst as Miss Trunchbull, Tessa Kadler as Miss Honey, Adam Stafford as Mr Wormwood and Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood.
The adult cast also includes Scotty Armstrong, Sam Holden, Portia Jefferies, Caiomhe Judd, Brooke Kelly, Ryan Lay, Cassandra Lee, Samuel Leon, Jordan Maisuria-Wake, Nicole Manumbre, Lizzie Nance, Esther Niles, Jordan Ricketts, Josh Singleton, Bradley Trevethan, Ella Tweed, Ben Tyler and Karen Walker.
Young performers announced for the tour include Rudy Bragg, Jacob Connor-Ashton, Charlie Cox, Sylvie Grace, Rose Jammeh, Dottie Jones, Takunda Khumalo, Sana Lennon, Oisin-Luca Pegg, Millie-May Mankowska, Tate Masuku, Leo Maurice, Carter-J Murphy, Jaxon James Nolan, Cole Nicholson, Pixie Pettigrew, Brodie Robson, Haiden Sihapanya and Felix Schmitt.
Tim Minchin, who wrote the music and lyrics for Matilda The Musical, made a surprise visit to the rehearsal room this week to meet the young tour cast.
Following its opening in Leicester, the tour will visit Bradford, Liverpool, Plymouth, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Manchester, Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham, Norwich, Milton Keynes and Cardiff, where it will play over Christmas until 17 January 2027. Final tour dates will be announced in September 2025.
The internationally acclaimed musical continues its West End run at the Cambridge Theatre and has been seen by over 12 million people in 100 cities worldwide.
Written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and directed by Matthew Warchus, the production features design by Rob Howell, choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and special effects by Paul Kieve.
