The producers of Hadestown have unveiled a major new cast line-up for the West End production as the acclaimed musical celebrates its 1,000th performance at London’s Lyric Theatre.
Joining the company from 15 September 2026 are internationally renowned soprano Danielle de Niese as Persephone, acclaimed screen actor Shaun Dooley as Hades, West End star Fayth Ifil as Eurydice, leading musical theatre performer Malinda Parris as Hermes, and singer-songwriter Nathan Sykes as Orpheus.
De Niese recently won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera and has performed with many of the world’s leading opera companies and orchestras.
Dooley is known for television and film roles including Mr Bates Vs The Post Office, Criminal Record, It’s a Sin, Broadchurch and Saltburn, alongside a celebrated stage career that includes Jez Butterworth’s The Hills of California.
Ifil, who made her West End debut at the age of ten, has previously starred in Tina – The Tina Turner Musical and Just For One Day.
Parris joins the company following performances in productions including Hercules, & Juliet, Mary Poppins, Matilda and Parade.
Former The Wanted star Nathan Sykes takes on the role of Orpheus, marking a major West End casting for the chart-topping singer-songwriter, who has enjoyed international success both as part of the band and as a solo artist.
The new principals join existing company members Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Lauran Rae as the Fates, alongside Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham and Sebastian Lim-Seet as Workers, with Juan Jackson, OisÃn Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi and Milly Willows serving as Swings.
Featuring music, lyrics and book by Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown intertwines the mythic love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice with those of Hades and Persephone. The genre-defying musical blends influences from folk, blues, pop and New Orleans-inspired jazz, and was developed with Tony Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin.
Since opening in the West End, the production has become one of London’s most popular musicals, and this latest cast change comes as the show reaches the landmark milestone of 1,000 performances at the Lyric Theatre.
