Mel Giedroyc has been announced as the Special Guest Star in English National Opera’s revival of HMS Pinafore, running at the London Coliseum from 4 December 2025 to 7 February 2026.

The beloved comedian, actor and presenter will make her ENO debut in a non-singing role, bringing her signature comic timing and warmth to Gilbert and Sullivan’s nautical satire.

“I’m really excited to be making my debut with English National Opera at the London Coliseum in this hilarious production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore,” said Giedroyc. “Lots of innuendo and plenty of operatic sailors… What more could you ask for? It’s going to be fun!”

Directed by Cal McCrystal, the Olivier Award-nominated production returns for its first revival since premiering in 2021. Designed by takis, the show was praised by critics as “pure unadulterated fun” (Seen and Heard International), “an endlessly mischievous staging… joyous” (The Times), and “elegant, buoyant and witty” (The Guardian).

Conductor Matthew Kofi Waldren leads the Orchestra of the ENO, continuing his acclaimed work following ENO’s production of Blue.
