Hollywood star Mischa Barton will make her long-awaited UK stage debut in Double Indemnity, a gripping new adaptation of James M. Cain’s classic crime novel.

Presented by Trafalgar Theatre Productions, Double Indemnity opens at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre on 5 February 2026, before touring across the UK and Ireland until May.

Mischa Barton said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be returning to the stage and making my UK theatre debut in ‘Double Indemnity’. This classic film noir favourite is a gripping tale of deceit, tension, and suspense and I cannot wait to step into the role of Phyllis and share her with audiences across the UK and Ireland for the first time.”

Set in 1930s Los Angeles, Double Indemnity follows Walter Huff, an insurance salesman who becomes entangled in a deadly plot with the seductive Phyllis Nirdlinger (played by Barton).

Together, they plan the perfect crime: murder, insurance fraud, and escape. But as guilt and mistrust grow, their scheme begins to unravel.
