The producers of Paddington™ The Musical have announced a brand-new cast as the multi-award-winning West End production celebrates its first birthday in London.
The new company will begin performances at the Savoy Theatre from 28 October, taking the critically acclaimed musical into its second year in the West End.
Abbie Purvis and Hassan Taj will alternate as the Paddington on Stage Performer, with Sonny Monaghan playing Young Man/Paddington (Voice & Remote Puppetry). Monaghan makes his West End debut in the production, while both Purvis and Taj also make their West End debuts in the title role.
Joining them are Samantha Bingley, Tarinn Callender, Alex Crandon, Linzi Hateley, Cassidy Janson, Teddy Kempner, Sandra Marvin, Haydn Oakley, Marc Pickering and Charlotte Wakefield.
Poppy Houghton and Francesca Ratcliffe will alternate the role of Judy Brown, while Eddison Burch and Shayne Maphosa alternate as Tony. Charlie Dean, Arlo Drage, Oliver Goodman and Finn Leonard will share the role of Jonathan Brown.
The musical, based on the beloved characters created by Michael Bond and inspired by the 2014 film, has become one of the West End’s biggest successes since opening at the Savoy Theatre.
Producers Sonia Friedman Productions, STUDIOCANAL and Eliza Lumley Productions on behalf of Universal Music UK confirmed the new company as the show continues its London run, currently booking until 13 February 2028.
Sonia Friedman and Eliza Lumley said: “It is an absolute privilege bringing Paddington The Musical to the stage with our partners from STUDIOCANAL, and as we celebrate our first year in the west end, it’s a joy to announce this brand-new company. Shows like this don’t come along very often, and we’re continually in awe of how audiences embrace the production, and take this much-loved bear to their hearts. We know this wonderful company will make the show their own and continue to create magic on stage at the Savoy Theatre.”
The production has enjoyed remarkable awards success, winning seven Olivier Awards including Best New Musical, as well as nine WhatsOnStage Awards. Earlier this year, it also received the Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Musical.
Featuring music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher, a book by Jessica Swale and direction by Luke Sheppard, the musical follows Paddington’s arrival in London and his adventures with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens.
The musical is also set to expand internationally, with a Broadway production scheduled to open at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in March 2027.
