The Olivier Awards 2026 with Cunard has launched Love Your Local Theatre, a new national campaign shining a spotlight on the crucial role local theatres play in nurturing creativity, connection and talent across the UK.

Centred around a nationwide social media initiative, the campaign invites the public to post a video, image or graphic celebrating their local theatre using the hashtag #LoveYourLocalTheatre. Each eligible post will be entered into a prize draw to win an exclusive package including two tickets to the Olivier Awards 2026 with Cunard, a two night stay at The May Fair Hotel and £500 in Theatre Tokens redeemable at more than 300 venues. The prize draw closes at 11.59pm on Thursday 5 March.

Marking its 50th anniversary this year, the Olivier Awards will see past nominees and winners honour the regional venues that first inspired and supported their artistic journeys. By championing these connections, the campaign highlights the importance of local theatres in sustaining the national cultural landscape.

Olivier Award winning actor Adrian Lester said: “Local theatres across the UK enrich British culture and sustain the theatre ecosystem. My own journey began with Birmingham Youth Theatre at the Midland Arts Centre and Birmingham Rep, which gave me opportunities that shaped the course of my career. These, and many venues across the UK, continue to do the same for generations of artists today.”

Kathy Bourne, President of UK Theatre and Executive Director of Chichester Festival Theatre, added: “From first performances to lifelong careers, local theatres play a crucial role in nurturing talent and inspiring audiences. Love Your Local Theatre is about celebrating the venues at the heart of our communities and recognising the impact they have on artists, audiences and the wider theatre industry.”
