Operation Mincemeat has announced its nineteenth West End extension, with performances at London’s Fortune Theatre now booking through to 29 May 2027.
The latest extension will take the acclaimed musical into its fifth year in the West End, further cementing its remarkable success story after beginning life as a small-scale fringe production at New Diorama Theatre in 2019.
The announcement comes as Operation Mincemeat continues its expansion across the globe. Alongside its West End run, the production is currently touring the UK and is preparing to launch its North American tour, while its Broadway engagement at the John Golden Theatre has also been extended, with performances now booking until 14 February 2027.
Earlier this year, the musical celebrated selling its one millionth ticket. To mark the milestone, five Golden Tickets were awarded to lucky audience members, granting them free, unlimited access to see Operation Mincemeat anywhere in the world for life.
Written and composed by SpitLip, comprising David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson and Zoƫ Roberts, the musical tells the extraordinary true story of the covert World War II operation that helped change the course of the conflict.
Set in 1943, the show follows the audacious intelligence mission centred around a stolen corpse and a daring plan designed to deceive Hitler and the Nazi regime.
Following its premiere at the 77-seat New Diorama Theatre, Operation Mincemeat developed a cult following through sold out runs at Southwark Playhouse and Riverside Studios before transferring to the Fortune Theatre in May 2023.
Since arriving in the West End, the production has won both the Olivier Award and WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical and has amassed more than 181 five-star reviews. The Broadway production was nominated for four Tony Awards and won Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
The production is directed by Rob Hastie, with choreography by Jenny Arnold. The creative team also includes set and costume designer Ben Stones, lighting designer Mark Henderson, sound designer Mike Walker, orchestrator and vocal arranger Steve Sidwell, musical supervisor Joe Bunker and musical director Ben Cox.
