Park Theatre has announced its Park90 Autumn season, bringing four productions to the Finsbury Park venue between October and December, alongside a line-up of acclaimed comedy performances.
Leading the season is the return of The Revlon Girl (26 October to 14 November), which comes back to Park Theatre with its original cast almost a decade after making its London debut there in 2017.
Written by Neil Anthony Docking and directed by Maxine Evans, the Olivier Award-nominated play tells the true story of a group of mothers coping with grief in the aftermath of the 1966 Aberfan mining disaster, which claimed the lives of 116 children and 28 adults.
Set eight months after the tragedy, the women secretly arrange for a visit from a Revlon make-up representative, creating a moving and unexpectedly uplifting exploration of loss, friendship and resilience.
The production earned an Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre and won Best New Play at the 2018 Off West End Awards.
Also arriving at Park90 is the London premiere of Goblin (17 November to 5 December), the critically acclaimed Edinburgh Festival Fringe hit written and performed by Derek Mitchell.
The dark comedy follows 15-year-old emo teenager Eliot as he navigates adolescence, obsession and identity. Audiences are invited into his world before witnessing the damaging effects of a secret relationship with a much older man.
Florence (16 to 21 November), written by Honor Santa Barnes and Eleanor Blackwood and directed by Blackwood, transfers to Park Theatre following a successful Edinburgh Fringe run and subsequent London engagement.
The satirical tragicomedy follows a young Irish art graduate who invents a sophisticated alter ego in order to gain access to the elite art world. As her creation becomes increasingly difficult to control, the play explores ambition, class and self-identity.
Completing the theatrical programme is The Silence and the Noise (25 November to 12 December), which makes its world stage debut after previous life as an award-winning audio play and digital film.
Written by Tom Powell and directed by George Turvey, the 2021 Papatango Prize winner centres on teenagers Ben and Daize, whose unlikely friendship offers hope amid challenging circumstances.
Alongside the theatre programme, Park90 will host comedy performances from Lara Ricote, Em Humble, Lou Wall and Olga Koch throughout September.
Artistic Director Jez Bond said, “We are thrilled to welcome back The Revlon Girl to Park90, on the 10th anniversary of the writing of the play and to mark the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster. This provides another chance for audiences to experience one of the most popular and critically acclaimed plays in Park90’s history, alongside two excellent Edinburgh Festival Fringe transfers and Park Theatre’s second stage debut from a Papatango prize winning play, The Silence and the Noise. An excellent line up of shows with a large helping of comedy to also enjoy in Park90 this autumn.”
Park Theatre has built a reputation for championing both established and emerging talent, with numerous West End transfers, Olivier Award nominations and OffWestEnd Award wins since opening in Finsbury Park.
