Producers Wessex Grove and Gavin Kalin Productions have confirmed performance dates for the 50th anniversary West End revival of David Hare’s Teeth ‘n’ Smiles.
The production will run for 12 weeks only at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 13 March to 6 June 2026.
Starring Rebecca Lucy Taylor, AKA Self Esteem, the revival marks her West End play debut. Further casting is to be announced.
Directed by Daniel Raggett, Teeth ‘n’ Smiles will feature set design by Chloe Lamford and costume design by Alex Mullins.
Written by David Hare, the play features original music by Nick Bicât and lyrics by Tony Bicât, with new additional music and lyrics by Rebecca Lucy Taylor.
Rebecca Lucy Taylor returns to the stage following her acclaimed run as Sally Bowles in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, which was extended due to popular demand.
Taylor said, “I love to challenge myself in new forms and I can’t wait to slap you round the face with Maggie.”
Teeth ‘n’ Smiles tells the story of Maggie Frisby, a once-iconic voice of 60s counterculture, now broke and disillusioned. As her band’s dreams of rebellion collapse, Maggie rages through the night, fuelled by booze, fury, and a voice that refuses to die.
Taylor’s music career has seen her rise from cult favourite to mainstream success, with her albums Prioritise Pleasure and A Complicated Woman earning critical acclaim and major award nominations.
She will release her first book, also titled A Complicated Woman, on 30 October and will co-curate the London Literature Festival at Southbank Centre on 1 November.
