Edinlochry will debut at Pitlochry Festival Theatre this summer, offering a brand-new celebration inspired by the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Running from 4 to 8 August, the festival will showcase a handpicked selection of comedy, music, theatre and more at Scotland’s Theatre in the Hills.
The programme features a diverse range of productions including Lubna Kerr’s semi-autobiographical solo show Chatterbox, and Lauder, a play celebrating the life of legendary entertainer Harry Lauder.
Further highlights include Groomed, a provocative drama exploring complex human stories, Absent, a haunting portrait of life in Iraq under restrictions, and Kidnap, a darkly comic one-woman show based on a true story.
Audiences can also experience Our Martin in the Background, which tells the story of two strangers whose lives change after a chance meeting, and Conor O’Dwyer’s Homo(sapien), a darkly comedic monodrama exploring identity and growing up queer.
Music fans are catered for with Christine Bovill’s Piaf Revisited, a deeply personal celebration of Édith Piaf, alongside Cloudbusting, a showcase of Kate Bush’s iconic songs performed by Mandy Watson and a live band.
Award-winning vocalist Niki King will present Time, a musical journey exploring themes of love, loss and human connection.
The festival also includes a performance from mentalist Jason Suran, whose work blends humour with mind-reading and illusion.
Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Artistic Director Alan Cumming said: “Why go to Edinburgh when Edinburgh will come to you?!
After the success of our inaugural LGBTQ + festival Out in the Hills, and the continued success of our writers’ festival Winter Words, I felt we were ready for another mini-festival at Pitlochry Festival Theatre!
And what better way to celebrate the creativity and fun that is the Edinburgh Fringe than to bring, in the week before it all kicks off, a bunch of past, present and future Fringe performers to Pitlochry and have a week of shows that captures all the fecundity and eclectism you’d expect when combing the fringe!
A slice of the world’s greatest arts shebang right here amidst the beautiful Highlands!”
Set against the backdrop of Highland Perthshire, Edinlochry aims to capture the spontaneity and creativity of the Fringe while offering audiences an accessible alternative outside Edinburgh.
