Spencer Jones The Audition

Spencer Jones The Audition

Lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2017 nominee Spencer Jones returns to the the Soho Theatre with his comedy alter ego and total idiot, The Herbert, in his latest joy-filled odyssey, The Audition.

In this latest adventure, another magical mix of musical and visual comedy, The Herbert lands himself an audition for a Steven Spielberg movie. It’s the main part – playing a robot. It’s also a once in a lifetime opportunity, but can this hapless hero grasp it? We stay with The Herbert as he prepares himself for the big day – with a little help from his son, 250 tennis balls and a shy coconut.

Spencer recently starred in two pilots for BBC One: Mister Winner, in which he played the lead role of Leslie Winner, and another called Tim Vine Travels In Time starring as Friar Tuck alongside Tim Vine and Tim Key.

Spencer can currently be seen reprising his role of Kempe in the second series of Ben Elton’s Upstart Crow for BBC2 (also starring David Mitchell and Harry Enfield). Other appearances include the Christmas special of BBC2’s Live At The Apollo Series 12 alongside Romesh Ranganathan, Kerry Godliman and Seann Walsh.

Spencer wrote, starred in, associate produced and composed the music for his pilot, The Jonah Man, for Sky One (Cave Bear). This was based on his ten minute Sky Comedy Short Spencer Jones’s Christmas which won the 2016 Broadcast Digital Award for Best Scripted Online Short.
