– VAULT Festival 2022 has now been cancelled – The Messiah Complex, a new play by Bag of Beard and devised and scripted by Alexander Knott, James Demaine and Ryan Hutton will premiere at VAULT Festival.

A possible future, where faith is forbidden. You cannot believe in anything which cannot be proven. And the Complex are watching. Making sure that you don’t.

But one man still believes. Even though they stole his memories and edited his dreams – he remembers what they did. And they remember what he did, too.

A post truth fable. A morality tale about taking belief to extremes. A mind-bending psychological philosophical thriller from multi Off West End Award nominated company Bag of Beard.

The Messiah Complex is Bag of Beard’s 5th Anniversary Production, symbolizing the company’s values of highly dynamic, fast-paced theatre that speaks to the moment.

From a company described as being “at the forefront of contemporary theatre”, this devised production has been in the creation and devising for over 5 years, and in a highly divided society could not be a more relevant, provocative and urgent statement, told as a psychological thriller about faith, belief, freedom and authority.

The Messiah Complex is at VAULT Festival’s Studio 8th to 13th February 2022.
