Award-winning hit Public – The Musical will return for a new run at Leicester’s Curve, playing in the Studio Theatre from 30 May to 13 June 2026.
The acclaimed pop-rock musical, created by the collective Stroud and Notes, tells the story of four strangers trapped inside a gender-neutral public toilet. It first premiered at VAULT Festival 2023, winning the VAULT Festival Origins Award, before a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe where it picked up The Charlie Hartill Award and was named Playbill’s ‘Pick of the Fringe’.
The creative team includes writers Hannah Sands (who also directs), Kyla Stroud (composer), and Natalie Stroud (choreographer), with Olivia Zacharia as Musical Supervisor and Orchestrator. Casting will be announced soon.
Speaking about the upcoming run, writer and composer Kyla Stroud said:
“From songs written in a bedroom during the pandemic, to debuting a bloomin’ musical at Curve… I’m beyond incredibly proud of this little show and the journey it’s been on already. As a team, we’re so excited to bring our pop-rock celebration of compassion and understanding to the Leicester stage!”
The musical introduces audiences to Laura, Andrew, Zo, and Finley—four strangers whose personalities clash when they find themselves locked in a public bathroom with no way out. Packed with emotion, comedy, and joy, Public – The Musical explores human connection through sharp comedy, authentic characters, and an electrifying score.
