Rehearsal images have been released for Sylvia as the Olivier Award-nominated musical prepares to embark on a UK tour this autumn before a limited run at the Royal Albert Hall.
Produced by Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Eilene Davidson Productions and PW Productions in association with Rupert Gavin/Mallory Factor, Curve Leicester and Beverley Knight, the musical will open at Curve Leicester on 24 September before visiting Birmingham Hippodrome, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Lowry in Salford, Norwich Theatre Royal and Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre.
The tour will culminate with five performances at the Royal Albert Hall from 13 to 15 November 2026, a venue that played a significant role in the women’s suffrage movement and hosted many landmark suffragette rallies and speeches.
Beverley Knight reprises her Olivier Award-winning role as Emmeline Pankhurst, alongside Naomi Katiyo as Sylvia Pankhurst.
The full cast includes Kelly Agbowu, Claudia-Rose Carlier, Jaye Marshall, Kirstie Skivington, Ellena Vincent, Lauren Azania, Zion Battles, Ebony Clarke, Eloise Davies, Solomon Davy, Collette Guitart, Leah Hill, Nathan Louis-Fernand, Tachia Newall, Uzuazo O’David, Castell Parker, Cleve September, Kenedy Small and Ivano Turco.
Following its sell-out world premiere at The Old Vic in 2023, Sylvia returns with its powerful retelling of the life of Sylvia Pankhurst, charting her fight for social and political change beyond the campaign for women’s suffrage.
Combining hip hop, funk and soul, the musical features a score by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, with direction, choreography and lyrics by Kate Prince. The book is by Prince and Priya Parmar.
The production will also host the UK’s largest-ever education matinee on 13 November at the Royal Albert Hall. Delivered in partnership with Go Live Theatre and supported by The Garek Trust, the performance will welcome almost 5,000 children and young people with tickets available for £10.
The creative team includes Kate Prince and Priya Parmar (book), Josh Cohen and DJ Walde (music), Ben Stones (set and costume design), Natasha Chivers and Hector Murray (lighting), Tony Gayle (sound), Andrzej Goulding (video and animation), Cynthia De La Rosa (wigs, hair and make-up), Mark Dickman (orchestrations), Sean Green (music supervisor), Stuart Burt CDG (casting), Lolita Chakrabarti (dramaturgy) and Tachia Newall (additional lyrics).
An album featuring 14 selected tracks from the musical, Sylvia – The Essentials, produced by Grammy Award winner Martin Terefe, is available on streaming platforms.
