Four Star Review from Theatre WeeklyQ The Music, one of the largest tribute bands dedicated to James Bond music, has been touring the UK with their The James Bond Concert Spectacular programme for many years. They make slight changes from show to show, including guest appearances from Bond actors and incorporating feedback from previous shows.

The latest iteration of the show at London’s Indigo at The O2 features David Zaritsky as the evening’s host, with special appearances by Maud Adams and Britt Ekland, who starred in The Man with the Golden Gun. It’s no coincidence, as the film celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

This 2024 London concert also highlights other films from the series, including the 60th anniversary of Goldfinger and the 25th anniversary of The World is Not Enough. However, the concert features plenty of music from more recent Bond films as well.

The show’s main feature is the powerful performance by the full orchestra, playing both classic and reimagined versions of the Bond film series themes and songs. From Skyfall and Diamonds Are Forever, to Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice, the concert has a great selection of well-known music hits from different eras of the Bond movies. Both the live music and the vocal performances by the Q The Music orchestra and soloists were outstanding.

An added extra for true fans of the films were the guest appearances by the actors and the intros by David Zaritsky. They share some fun facts, walk down memory lane on the details of the film’s creation, and offer the audience a few insights.

These segments are great if you are deeply into Bond movies, but they may feel a bit boring or irrelevant if you are just a casual viewer who has seen only a few films in the franchise. As the show’s creators describe it, it is a concert made by Bond fans for Bond fans, and it felt true.

The hall had an atmosphere of community or a large fan club gathering, and the audience spanned many generations. Whether you are a big fan of the James Bond cinematic universe or have seen just a few of the latest films, it is an enjoyable tribute concert. However, if you are a true fan, try catching their special events—such as Q&A sessions and public talks, often accompanying the show and selling out fast!
