Rose Bruford College has unveiled two major contemporary productions as part of its Spring Season 2026, running from 14 February to 20 March across Greenwich Theatre and Bridewell Theatre.
The season opens with Jez Butterworth’s The Hills of California, directed by Daniel Bailey, Associate Artistic Director at the Bush Theatre. The play premiered in 2024 at the Harold Pinter Theatre and was nominated for Best New Play at the Olivier Awards. Bailey, known for directing the award winning Red Pitch, leads Rose Bruford’s new staging performed by a graduating ensemble.
Eve Leigh’s Wildfire Road follows later in the season, receiving its London premiere under the direction of Dr Ben Buratta, Rose Bruford’s Head of Performance. The play places questions of memory, power and the climate crisis centre stage.
Additional Greenwich Theatre productions include the cult musical Ruthless by Joel Paley and the Tony Award winning Spring Awakening by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, highlighting the versatility and musicality of the College’s graduating cohort.
At Bridewell Theatre, the programme expands with Rabiah Hussain’s Word-Play, directed by Philip J Morris. Morris’s previous work includes productions for the National Theatre’s Public Acts and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and he recently received the 2025 Excellence in Arts Education Award.
Dr Ben Buratta, Head of Performance at Rose Bruford College said: ‘Spring is always an exciting time at Rose Bruford, and this year’s season promises to be one of our strongest. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our undergraduate actors and actormusicians to work in collaboration with design and technical students to showcase their talent. We’re also delighted to welcome directors and practitioners who are leading in the industry to collaborate with our students. We hope audiences enjoy the breadth and ambition of their work.’
The season places final year BA Acting and BA Actor Musicianship students on major London stages, offering audiences the opportunity to experience bold new interpretations of acclaimed contemporary work supported by professional directors and creative teams.
