Rose Bruford College will showcase the next generation of theatre talent with two ambitious productions at Bridewell Theatre this June, reinterpreting classic Greek tragedy for contemporary audiences.

Running from 18 to 27 June, After the Fall and The Rest Will Be Familiar to You from Cinema are the final performances from the college’s MA and MFA acting students before they begin their professional careers.

After the Fall, created by the company and directed by Punchdrunk associate Sarah Dowling, is a promenade performance inspired by Euripides’ Hecuba and Trojan Women. Audiences of just 36 will move through the space, encountering a haunting depiction of the aftermath of the Trojan War.

Set in the liminal Asphodel Meadows, the production brings together captors and captives, victims and perpetrators, as they relive the consequences of conflict in an immersive environment.

The second production, The Rest Will Be Familiar to You from Cinema, marks the English language premiere of Martin Crimp’s work, directed by Ivan V Talijančić. The play draws on Euripides’ The Phoenician Women and examines the legacy of civil war through a contemporary lens.

Blending striking visuals, physical performance and a powerful sonic landscape, the piece explores the fate of Jocasta and her children, and the enduring cycles of violence and devastation.

Ivan V Talijančić said, “Being already a month into the rehearsal process with these two productions, it is thrilling to see these boundary-pushing projects come to life with a talented group of acting students from Rose Bruford College. I cannot wait to share these extraordinary works with London audiences later this month.”

Both productions are presented with affordable ticket prices, making them accessible opportunities to experience innovative new theatre.

Performances take place at Bridewell Theatre, with After the Fall running from 18 to 20 June and The Rest Will Be Familiar to You from Cinema from 25 to 27 June.
