The Mill at Sonning has announced the cast for the internationally acclaimed comedy whodunit Shear Madness by Paul Portner, directed by Sally Hughes, running from 25 June to 15 August.
With more than 13.8 million fans worldwide and productions in over 50 cities, Shear Madness holds the Guinness World Record as the longest-running play in US history and arrives in Sonning as a global theatrical phenomenon.
The production stars Rosaleen Burton, Daniel Cane, Gwithian Evans, Jonathan Markwood, Natalie Ogle, and Paul O’Neill.
Set in the lively Shear Madness hair salon, the show begins as a day of eccentric characters and lively chatter before a shocking murder turns everyone present into a suspect.
Audiences are invited to become detectives, questioning characters, spotting clues, and helping decide the outcome, with a different ending every night.
The creative team includes director Sally Hughes, set designer Alex Marker, costume designer Natalie Titchener, and lighting designer Graham Weymouth.
Rosaleen Burton’s previous credits include Vitamin D and Jumper, while Daniel Cane has appeared in Come From Away and The Pride. Gwithian Evans is known for The Mousetrap, and Jonathan Markwood’s credits include One Man Two Guvnors.
Natalie Ogle returns to The Mill following Calendar Girls, and Paul O’Neill has performed internationally in Faulty Towers: The Dining Experience and played Paul McCartney in The Beatles The Musical.
Blending classic murder mystery with improvisation and audience participation, Shear Madness promises a fast-paced evening of comedy, mystery, and surprises shaped by theatregoers themselves.
