Shedinburgh and Francesca Moody Productions have celebrated the opening weekend of the venue’s first-ever London residency at the Young Vic Theatre, marking the arrival of the acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe destination in the capital.

The new residency, presented in association with the Young Vic, has transformed the Maria Theatre into Shedinburgh’s distinctive purpose-built performance space, hosting an ambitious three-week programme running until 10 October 2026.

Opening weekend welcomed audiences to a packed programme featuring Jessie Cave: Sunrise, Kirsty Mann: Corpse, Javaad Alipoor: America’s Kingdoms, Songs From Across The Sueniverse and Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nominee Dom McGovern: Prize Hog.

The launch celebrations concluded with drinks attended by comedian and Taskmaster star Chloe Petts.

Created by the Olivier Award-winning producers behind Fleabag and Baby Reindeer, Francesca Moody Productions has brought Shedinburgh to London following a successful 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe season.

The inaugural London programme features more than 40 performances spanning theatre, comedy, music, live art and new writing, with artists presenting work in Shedinburgh’s intimate and stripped-back performance environment.

Highlights across the residency include performances from Sara Pascoe, Flo & Joan, Rosie Jones, Tim Crouch, Inua Ellams, Deborah Frances-White, Rob Auton, Kemah Bob and Nina Conti, alongside a series of work-in-progress presentations and industry talks.

The season also continues Shedinburgh’s commitment to supporting new writing through its Shed Originals programme, developed in partnership with organisations including Lowry, Traverse, Abbey Theatre and Theatr Clwyd.

Originally launched as an online festival during lockdown in 2020, Shedinburgh has evolved into a major platform for established and emerging artists, returning as a live venue at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2025 before expanding further in 2026.

All performances during the London residency are presented in an acoustic, stripped-back format reimagined specifically for the Shedinburgh space.
