The full cast has been announced for Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas, the new festive musical comedy by Humphrey Ker and David Reed, which will play Alexandra Palace Theatre from 24 November 2026 to 17 January 2027.
Produced by Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Eilene Davidson Productions and Heartaches Limited, the Birmingham Rep production marks its first festive London season, with a press night scheduled for 1 December 2026.
Featuring songs by Tim Rice and Howard Goodall and directed by Phillip Breen, the production comes from the award-winning team behind the acclaimed seasonal staging of A Christmas Carol at Alexandra Palace Theatre.
Bo Poraj will star as Sherlock Holmes, with Olivier Award nominee Marc Antolin playing Dr Watson. They are joined by Edward Bourne, Jonnie Broadbent, Annabel Brook, Wayne Cater, Margot Jardine, Mia Jerome, Olivia-Faith Kamau, Mia Overfield, Vivien Parry, Emily Pithon, John Ramm, John-Luke Roberts and Charlie Russell.
Poraj said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be playing such an iconic role, and to be doing it alongside this fantastic cast. This is one of the funniest scripts I have read in a long time, and to be performing it at the breathtaking Alexandra Palace Theatre is the ultimate Christmas treat.”
Antolin added: “This is the Sherlock and Watson you know, but wrapped in tinsel, stuffed with jokes, and tied together with phenomenal songs. As Dr Watson, I urge everyone to book their tickets immediately to get their annual dose of Christmas hilarity.”
Set in Victorian London during the festive season, the story follows Sherlock Holmes as performers in the West End begin dying under mysterious circumstances. Discovering a chilling connection to The Twelve Days of Christmas, Holmes and Watson race against time to unmask a killer before another victim falls.
Writers Humphrey Ker and David Reed said: “We’ve basically done our absolute damnedest to pack in everything we love about Christmas into one show: Laughter, songs, fabulous costumes, goodwill to all and a series of gruesome and elaborate killings. We couldn’t be happier to be bringing our original Sherlock Holmes adventure to the actual Victorian theatre where they film Jools Holland. What could be more Christmassy than that?”
The creative team includes designer Mark Bailey, lighting designer Anna Watson, sound designer Luke Swaffield, choreographer and movement director Georgina Lamb, fight director Renny Krupinski, illusionists Chris Fisher and Dr Will Houstoun, casting director Helena Palmer CDG and musical director Leo Munby.
Blending festive cheer, murder mystery and musical comedy, Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas promises an entertaining seasonal adventure in one of London’s most atmospheric Victorian theatres.
