London audiences are set for a stellar adventure as Space Dogs: The Musical arrives at The Other Palace Studio for a limited run from 28 July to 9 August 2026.
Written and performed by Nick Blaemire and Van Hughes, this high-energy two-hander tells the extraordinary true story of Laika, the stray dog sent into orbit during the Cold War Space Race.
Blending rock musical with docu-comedy, the production sees Blaemire and Hughes play every role, from Soviet scientists and politicians to an entire pack of space dogs.
The show explores the relationship between Laika and the mysterious Chief Designer, offering a kaleidoscopic journey that spans from Earth to outer space.
Described as a fast-paced theatrical feat, the production combines humour and heart to examine themes of invention, betrayal and the bond between humans and animals.
Producers Paul Taylor-Mills and Tricia Small said, “Bringing SPACE DOGS to London and to The Other Palace feels like the perfect next chapter for this wildly original show. Nick and Van have created a theatrical universe that is as hilarious as it is heartfelt.”
The production is directed by Will Blum, who returns to The Other Palace following his work on Bonnie & Clyde.
Space Dogs: The Musical runs for one hour and 25 minutes with no interval, with performances taking place across evenings and weekend matinees.
