This December, Spirix Collective will present Spirix Retold, a large-scale dance theatre production co-created by 80 young artists from across Wigan. The show runs from Saturday 6th December to Sunday 7th December 2025 at The Machine Hall at The Engine Room, Trencherfield Mill.

Audiences will be transported into the origin story of the Spirix, a modern folklore celebrating courage, creativity, and connection. The performance explores a pivotal moment when young people, guided by the spirit of the Spirix, gather to dream and dare, reminding us that the power to change the world lies within community.

The production is performed by members of Spirix Creatives, Spirix Youth Dance Company, All Child at St Peter’s Primary School, and Fred Longworth High School. Under the artistic direction of Amy Hodgson, choreography comes from Jessica Bennett (Cheshire Dance, Wild Aerial Theatre) and Jessica Clarke, with artistic mentoring by Helen Linsell of Dance United Yorkshire.

An original soundtrack by local DJ Tom2Trax blends atmospheric soundscapes with rhythmic energy, bringing the world of the Spirix vividly to life.

Amy Hodgson, Spirix Collective’s Founding Director, said:
“To witness non-dancers and experienced performers stand side by side, taking the stage and owning their movement with such conviction, has been inspiring. Spirix Retold sets the tone for the next generation of our organisation, rooted in courage, creativity, and collective energy. This is the beginning of something bold, and we are proud to have built it with the young people of Wigan.”
