Barn Theatre in Cirencester, in partnership with Tiny Giant Entertainment, has announced the full cast for its new production of The King’s Speech by David Seidler, ahead of a UK tour opening in January 2027.
Directed by Loveday Ingram, the production will premiere at the Barn Theatre from 9 October to 7 November 2026 before embarking on a nationwide tour that runs through to July 2027.
Leading the cast are Stefan Dennis, best known for Neighbours, as speech therapist Lionel Logue, and George Rainsford, whose credits include Casualty and the National Theatre’s Dear England, as Bertie, the future King George VI.
They are joined by Rosanna Miles as Queen Elizabeth, Lucy Bromilow as Myrtle Logue and Wallis Simpson, Tim Hudson as King George V and Winston Churchill, Ian Kirkby as Archbishop Cosmo Lang, and Mark Hammersley as David, King Edward VIII and Stanley Baldwin.
The creative team includes set and costume designer Adam Wiltshire, lighting designer Hector Murray, music and sound designer Elizabeth Purnell, and casting director Marc Frankum.
Adapted from the Academy Award-winning film, The King’s Speech follows Bertie as he faces the prospect of becoming king at a time of constitutional crisis and growing international tension. Struggling with a debilitating speech impediment, he forms an unlikely partnership with Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue as he prepares to address a nation on the brink of war.
The production’s official synopsis describes a story in which “royal protocol meets unorthodox challenges”, leading to “an unlikely but deeply meaningful friendship”.
Following its Cirencester run, the show will tour to venues including Oxford, Coventry, Cheltenham, Clwyd, Darlington, Blackpool, Bath, Guildford, Aberdeen, Nottingham, Windsor, Eastbourne, Leicester, Bromley, Wolverhampton, Southend, Salisbury, Sheffield, Winchester, Northampton, Carlisle, Ipswich, Cambridge, Liverpool and Malvern.
