National treasure Su Pollard will head to Crewe Lyceum this Christmas to star in the magical pantomime Sleeping Beauty.
Celebrating 52 years in showbusiness, Pollard joins previously announced favourites Malcolm Lord and Ste Johnston for the festive run, which opens on 11 December 2026 and plays until 3 January 2027.
Best known for her role as Peggy Ollerenshaw in Hi-de-Hi!, Pollard has appeared in more than 40 pantomimes and numerous stage productions including Annie and Me and My Girl.
Speaking about making her debut at the venue, Su Pollard said: “I’ve been in 46 pantos as Principal Boy, Good Fairy, Bad Fairy, Wicked Queen and Dame… you name it I’ve been it! But I’ve never performed in panto at the Lyceum before.
My good friends Cannon and Ball told me they had terrific seasons over the years and always loved their times there. It is a beautiful theatre with a terrific auditorium with splendid acoustics and a fabulous ceiling so I’m really excited to make my debut there!”
Pollard will take on the role of the Good Fairy, promising audiences a traditional pantomime experience filled with magic and fun.
She added: “My Fairy might have a slightly different look but I hope I bring to the audience everything the Good Fairy should. Lots of traditional storytelling especially for the children some who may not have been to the theatre before, let alone a panto, and of course loads of magic! There’ll be plenty of fun and plenty of opportunity to join in. And I very much hope to vanquish the baddie!”
Crewe Lyceum Theatre Director Graham McKnight said: “We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming the legendary Su Pollard to the Lyceum Theatre this December. Su is a true icon of British entertainment and brings the perfect mix of comedy, warmth, mischief and larger-than-life sparkle that makes her the most wonderful addition to this year’s spectacular show. With Su joining the unstoppable Malcolm & Ste on stage, audiences can expect huge laughs, fabulous fun and plenty of magical moments along the way. We know our audiences are going to fall in love with her all over again as she lights up the Lyceum stage this Christmas.”
Produced by the award-winning Imagine Theatre, Sleeping Beauty promises all the hallmarks of a classic pantomime, including a wicked villain, outrageous comedy, show-stopping musical numbers and plenty of audience participation.
The story follows Princess Aurora as she falls under the curse of the wicked fairy Carabosse, leaving audiences to wonder whether anyone will be brave enough to break the spell.
