Taylor Mac’s acclaimed festive spectacular Holiday Sauce will make its UK debut at Soho Theatre Walthamstow this Christmas, running from 17 to 23 December 2026.
Presented by Soho Theatre and Pomegranate Arts, the production will be performed live in the UK for the first time, bringing Mac’s irreverent and genre-defying take on the festive season to London audiences.
Described as “bedazzling, moving and politically stirring”, Holiday Sauce explores Christmas as both celebration and calamity, combining music, film, burlesque and unexpected theatrical moments.
Taylor Mac, an Ibsen Award winner, Tony nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist, is known for creating bold theatrical experiences that blend queer history, political critique and participatory performance.
The production also features elaborate costumes by long-time collaborator Machine Dazzle and a live band led by music director Matt Ray, reimagining familiar festive songs with a subversive twist.
Steve Lock, Soho Theatre’s Head of Comedy, said: ‘‘We first saw the remarkable Taylor Mac perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2006 and presented Taylor’s London debut at Soho Theatre the following year. Almost 20 years later, with Taylor having blossomed into one of the most acclaimed and exciting theatre artists in the world, we are bringing Holiday Sauce to Soho Theatre Walthamstow – a brilliant and very Soho way to celebrate the end of the year.’’
The show forms part of Soho Theatre Walthamstow’s Christmas programme, offering audiences a provocative and celebratory alternative to traditional festive entertainment.
