The Ballad of Johnny and June

Following sold-out seasons at New York’s La Jolla Playhouse and Canada’s Citadel Theatre, the acclaimed new musical The Ballad of Johnny & June is set to tour the UK and Ireland from March to September 2026.

The production celebrates the legendary love story and music of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, featuring iconic hits such as I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire, Hey Porter, Jackson, and I’ve Been Everywhere.

Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, The Who’s Tommy, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical), The Ballad of Johnny & June will open at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre on 2 March 2026, before visiting over 20 venues across the UK and Ireland.

Johnny Cash sold more than 90 million records worldwide and won 13 Grammy Awards, while June Carter Cash earned five Grammy Awards during her career. The couple married in 1968 and remained together until June’s passing in 2003.

Told through the eyes of their son, John Carter Cash, the musical explores the soaring highs and shattering lows of a love story that defined an era.
