Following a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at Park Theatre, Troupe’s world première production of The Forsyte Saga Parts 1 and 2 will transfer to the RSC this winter.
Adapted by Shaun McKenna and Lin Coghlan from the Nobel Prize-winning novels by John Galsworthy, the two-part production will open at the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, with The Forsyte Saga Part 1: Irene beginning on 28 November and Part 2: Fleur following on 1 December. Both productions will run until 10 January 2026.
Directed by Josh Roche, the production sees Fiona Hampton, Joseph Millson and Flora Spencer-Longhurst reprise their roles as Irene, Soames and Fleur respectively.
They are joined by Emma Amos, Nigel Hastings, Michael Lumsden, Florence Roberts and Andy Rush.
Priority booking for RSC members and supporters opens on Tuesday 3 June at 10am, with public booking available from Wednesday 25 June at 10am.
The creative team includes Set and Costume Designer Anna Yates, Lighting Designer Alex Musgrave, Sound Designer and Composer Max Pappenheim, Movement Director Patrice Bowler, and Additional Casting by Matthew Dewsbury CDG.
Described by the Financial Times as “the stage equivalent of a box-set binge,” The Forsyte Saga spans over 40 years from 1886 to 1927, exploring themes of love, ownership, and the decline of empire.
“1886. The Empire is at its peak. Business is good for the Forsytes. Over sixty years they have invested, acquired and saved their way towards wealth. But the Forsyte lust for ownership is relentless,” reads the synopsis.
“Soames’ possessive love for his wife Irene shatters their marriage. Her break for freedom triggers events which reverberate down the generations.”
