Pint Sized Playwriting Podcast

Renowned new writing theatre company Pint-Sized have announced 7 new episodes of their popular podcast.  The Pint-Sized Playwriting Podcast will feature interviews with artistic directors, literary managers, agents and producers.

There will be 8 podcasts in total to be released weekly, with the first podcast released on Tuesday 21st August. You can download them on iTunes and all other major podcast platforms.

The series will lay bare not only the process by which plays are taken from page to stage but also how best to navigate the industry, i.e. how to network, get representation and put on your own work. Through these concise, straightforward yet insightful interviews, playwrights are provided with a clear and practical guide with how to get ahead in new writing.

In the successful introductory podcasts Pint-Sized interviewed Stewart Pringle, resident dramaturg at the National Theatre and Deirdre O’Halloran, associate dramaturg at the Bush.  In the new episodes we will be in conversation with James Grieve, Co-Artistic Director of Paines Plough, Steven Atkinson and Francesca Clark of HighTide and Imogen Sarre of Casarotto as well as many other significant names in the industry.

Olly Jacques, producer of Pint-Sized Playwriting Podcast says: ‘We wanted to find another way to help emerging writers from all backgrounds, and as well as sourcing and staging new and original scripts, a free-to-access podcast talking to the decision-makers seemed like the perfect solution.’

Pint-Sized is a new-writing festival for the very best emerging writers; every year they read over 1,500 short scripts and stage the best five, while giving feedback and development support to a wider grassroots.

Described by Simon Stephens as ‘two of the most exciting producers of new-writing I’ve met in the last ten years’, Pint-Sized is run by Matt Maltby and Nick Oliver who are not only dedicated to supporting emerging writers, but also to creating a more representative new-writing scene.

This October they’ll be hosting their first ever week-long festival, Pint-Sized: October-Fest. During the week they’ll be showcasing 5 of the best new short plays, chosen from 1,681 entries, with the writers mentored by Lucy Kirkwood, Simon Stephens, Lucy Prebble and more. In the week they’ll also be hosting free workshops and Q&As with the best playwrights, dramaturgs and literary agents around.
