Award-winning producers Jack Maple and Thomas Hopkins have announced the first ever UK tour of The Talented Mr Ripley, a gripping stage adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s iconic novel.

The production opens at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham on 4 September 2025, with an official press night on 10 September.

Adapted and directed by Mark Leipacher, The Talented Mr Ripley is a The Faction production, known for Macbeth at the Stephen Joseph Theatre and My Last Duchess, a film commissioned by The Lowry.

“I never wanted to murder anyone. It was necessary.”

Set in the sun-drenched glamour of 1950s Italy, the story follows Tom Ripley, a man of modest means who is offered a chance to retrieve the wealthy Dickie Greenleaf from Europe. But as Tom becomes entangled in Dickie’s world of privilege, his fascination spirals into obsession, deception, and murder.

This new adaptation promises razor-sharp dialogue, psychological intensity, and a chillingly charismatic antihero.

The Talented Mr Ripley is produced by Jack Maple (Spring Awakening: The 15th Anniversary Reunion, The View Upstairs, Working) and Thomas Hopkins (This Bitter Earth, A Song From Far Away, ROSE).

The creative team includes set and costume design by Holly Piggott (Fleabag), associate design by Ellen Farrell, lighting by Zeynep Kepekli (The Little Mermaid), sound by Max Pappenheim (The Night of the Iguana), and casting by Marc Frankum CDG (The Woman in Black).

Casting is yet to be announced.
