British music legend Lulu is set to return to the story that launched her international career, starring in To Sir, With Love – A New Musical for two concert performances only at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on Monday 24 November 2025.

This newly reimagined stage adaptation of E.R. Braithwaite’s powerful memoir features an original score by John Farrar and Kara DioGuardi, with direction by acclaimed American director Sheldon Epps.

Lulu, who starred in the 1967 film adaptation opposite Sidney Poitier and sang the iconic title song, will once again bring the story to life in this special theatrical event.

“To Sir, With Love is an autobiographical story that is every bit as relevant then, as it is today,” say producers Kris Lythgoe and Darren Bell. “Rick Braithwaite is more than just a Cambridge-educated engineer and a former RAF fighter pilot; he’s a man battling societal prejudices at every turn.”

The musical explores themes of race, class, resilience, and the transformative power of respect. The concert will feature the legendary title song “To Sir, with Love” by Mark London and Don Black, alongside new music by Farrar and DioGuardi.

Kenny Seymour (Broadway’s Ain’t Too Proud) serves as music director, with casting by Debbie O’Brien. Musical arrangements are by Eve Nelson, with musical supervision and orchestration by Joseph Joubert. Dramaturgy is by Shereen Jasmin Phillips and choreography by Edgar Godineaux.

The production is developed through the Ogunquit Playhouse New Works Program and produced by Lythgoe Productions and Darren Bell, with Willette and Manny Klausner as co-producers.

Lulu’s illustrious career spans six decades across music, film, television, and theatre. She has released 15 studio albums and starred in productions including Guys and Dolls (National Theatre), 42nd Street (West End), and Song & Dance (West End).
