West End actor Niall Sheehy has joined the cast of HIM, Natalie Ekberg’s new play, which runs at the Union Theatre from 19 to 30 October 2026.
Sheehy takes over the role of Charlie, replacing the previously announced Dan Furlonger, who has left the production due to a scheduling conflict.
Written by Natalie Ekberg and directed by Simon Fielding, HIM is described as a darkly funny, emotionally charged and morally complex drama exploring a contemporary LGBTQ+ family.
The play follows Jane, who unexpectedly becomes pregnant with Charlie’s child and agrees that he will raise the baby with his new partner, Osmond. As the years pass, their carefully constructed arrangement begins to fracture under the pressure of buried resentments, lingering doubts and competing loyalties.
Sheehy’s recent credits include The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical on tour, as well as Love Never Dies, Les Misérables and Titanic the Musical.
He joins a cast led by Hannah Chalmers as Jane, Alan P. Jones as Kit, Gary Tushaw as Osmond and Julie Wood as Nana.
Ekberg is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter whose previous work includes Diversifications and the feature That Girl Peugeot, while director Simon Fielding is known for his work across theatre, musical theatre and pantomime, including multiple UK Pantomime Award-winning productions.
Fielding also brings a personal connection to the material, having become a parent through surrogacy. The production explores questions around parenthood, responsibility and what it means to create a family beyond traditional structures.
Press night for HIM will take place on Wednesday 21 October 2026.
