Wiltshire Creative’s September in the Rain to Stream for Limited Period

Wiltshire Creative announces that their critically acclaimed production of September in the Rain, currently playing at Salisbury Playhouse, will be available to stream online for a limited period from 4-9 October.

Directed by Gareth Machin, Artistic Director of Wiltshire Creative, this major revival of John Godber’s play stars Nicola Sloane as Liz and Ian Kelsey as Jack.

Tickets for the livestreamed performances are now on sale at www.wiltshirecreative.co.uk/whats-on/online/september-in-the-rain-streamed-online/.

Gareth Machin, Artistic Director of Wiltshire Creative and director of September in the Rain, said today, ‘We are thrilled to have the opportunity for audiences globally to enjoy September in the Rain as much as local audiences have, getting a glimpse into Jack and Liz’s touching yet hilarious marriage from the comfort of their own homes. This has been a turbulent year for the arts, but one positive that has come out of it is the surge of livestreams and the ability for audiences to still enjoy theatre where they may not have previously.’

Blackpool, 1950. Newly-wed Yorkshire couple, Jack and Liz have crossed the Pennines for their first trip to the seaside mecca. Beneath an uncertain September sky, they holiday in a world of stripy deckchairs, sandy sandwiches and stroppy donkeys. As the Wurlitzer organ plays they sway together on the dance floor of the Tower Ballroom.

For thirty years, come rain or shine, they never miss their annual week-long holiday on the Blackpool sands. Three decades of boarding houses, talent contests and fish and chips on the prom.

Moving backwards and forward through time, a married life unfolds through squabbles, children, laughter and tears against the backdrop of the heyday of the British seaside.
