The digital theatre website Original Theatre Online has added David Morley’s acclaimed drama A Cold Supper Behind Harrods to its productions available for members to stream online.

First heard on BBC Radio 4 in 2012 as a radio play, this stage production of A Cold Supper Behind Harrods reunites the original star-studded cast – 4-time BAFTA Award winner Sir David Jason (A Touch of Frost, Only Fools and Horses), Stephanie Cole OBE (Coronation Street, Open All Hours) and Anton Lesser (Game of Thrones, The Crown). They are joined by Saffron Coomber (Holby City and for Original Theatre, Viral) and Lucy Doyle (for Original Theatre, The Croft).

A Cold Supper Behind Harrods was inspired by real characters and events. Fifty years after the war that brought them together, three Special Operations Executive agents meet to record interviews for a BBC documentary.  Leo Marks, genius code maker and breaker; Vera Atkins, who trained female agents and devoted herself after the war seeking information about them and fighting for their recognition; and John Harrison, who spent years in concentration camps as a prisoner of the Gestapo.  As they wait to be interviewed, in a beautiful English garden drinking tea and doing the crossword, pleasantries give way to deeper darker subjects. A web of self-deception, lies and guilt begins to emerge.

Original Theatre Online first presented this rehearsed reading performance of A Cold Supper Behind Harrods when it was broadcast live from the Oxford Playhouse in June 2021, filmed by North South. It is now available to watch on demand until 12 October 2025.

To book, visit: https://originaltheatre.com/productions/a-cold-supper-behind-harrods. Rent for £5.99 (48hrs) or join from £8.99 per month and enjoy access to A Cold Supper Behind Harrods as well as Original Theatre’s ever-growing library of award-winning entertainment.
