The Almeida Theatre has announced the full cast for its upcoming production of Cleansed by Sarah Kane, directed by Olivier Award-winning director Rebecca Frecknall.
Leo Bill, Pearl Chanda, Luke Cinque-White, Lizzy Connolly, Jack Riddiford, Parth Thakerar and Stuart Thompson will appear in the production.
Cleansed opens on Wednesday 29 July, following previews from Wednesday 22 July, and runs until Saturday 29 August.
The press night takes place on Wednesday 29 July at 7pm.
Rebecca Frecknall directs Sarah Kane’s contemporary classic, which explores devotion, brutality and the survival of love when subjected to extreme violence.
The play centres on “two lovers and two siblings” and asks how far they are prepared to go to prove their devotion, and whether love can endure in the harshest of circumstances.
The creative team includes set designer Madeleine Girling, costume designer Debbie Duru and lighting designer Lee Curran.
Sound design is by George Dennis, with music composed by Angus MacRae, and intimacy direction by Ingrid Mackinnon.
Casting is by Julia Horan CDG, with illusions by Chris Fisher and fight direction by Sam Lyon Behan.
Also announced is 1000 (Millennia), the final production in the Almeida’s Islington Trilogy, written by Stephanie Bain and presented in partnership with All Change, Arsenal in the Community and Cardboard Citizens.
The community production runs from Thursday 9 July to Saturday 11 July, with a press night on Friday 10 July at 7pm.
1000 (Millennia) brings together 80 people from across the borough to tell an epic myth of Islington, spanning a half-remembered past to a fantastical imagined future.
The production is creatively directed by Dani Parr, with direction from Montel Douglas, Jordana Golbourn, Chris Sonnex and Ella Zgorska.
Cleansed is supported by Dianne Roberts.
