National Theatre at Home has announced two powerful new additions to its streaming platform: Alterations and Retrograde.
Alterations will be available from 12 August. Captured from the largest ever staging of Michael Abbensetts’ era-defining drama, the production was directed by Lynette Linton with additional material by Trish Cooke.
Walker Holt has big dreams for his tailor’s shop and an even bigger order to complete. Over the course of a single night, he works tirelessly to satisfy his client’s impossible tailoring needs. But as the hours pass, tensions rise, and relationships begin to fray.
The production illuminates the Guyanese experience of 1970s London and the aspirations and sacrifices of the Windrush generation.
Retrograde will stream from 9 September. Written by Ryan Calais Cameron, the play follows a young Sidney Poitier in 1950s Hollywood as he faces a life-changing decision that could shape his future and the Civil Rights Movement.
Directed by Amit Sharma, the production stars Ivanno Jeremiah, Stanley Townsend and Oliver Johnstone. It was captured live from London’s Apollo Theatre and produced by Colman Domingo and Nica Burns.
National Theatre at Home launched in 2020 and now offers access to over 100 productions, with new titles added monthly.
Subscriptions are available for £9.99 a month or £99.99 annually. All titles include captions, and over 85% are available with Audio Description.
